How to Install Solar System on Corrugated Roof?
If your roof is made of corrugated roof, drilling is usually the way to go. Just remember one thing: ensure waterproof.
1. Choose good solar panel structure
Use strong aluminum solar rails with an anodized coating—they won’t rust for 25 years. Use stainless steel bolts and fittings.
2. Drill in the right spot
Drill at the top of the wave, not in the groove. The top drains better, so water won’t sit there and sneak in. Never drill in the valley.
3. Put in the bolts
Use double-threaded hanger bolts with EPDM rubber washers. Push them through the holes and tighten them into the roof beams below. The washer gets squeezed tight and seals the hole. For wood beams, use self-tapping screws. For steel beams, use self-drilling screws.
4. Add rails and panels
Fix the aluminum rails on the hanger bolts. Then clamp the solar panels on with mid clamps and end clamps. Finish with grounding system and cable clips to keep wires neat.
Waterproofing
- Choose the hanger bolts with EPDM pad, also can use epoxy resin for further protection.
- After installation, spray water on every fixing point to test the waterproof.
Bottom line
A solar roof is only as good as its waterproofing. Use corrosion-resistant parts, seal every hole, and play it safe. Do it right, and your corrugated roof becomes a low-maintenance power plant for the next 25 years.
